Branson and Southwest Missouri have been getting a lot of notice in golfing circles nationwide. In the past decade, Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris has used his connections with the PGA and his considerable resources to make (and remake) the region's landscape... and golf landscape.

417 Magazine's March issue has a great article about how this happened, and why golfing legends like Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio have attached their names to Morris' efforts to make Big Cedar Lodge and the Branson area one of the top golf destinations in America.

Branson is home to 10 public golf courses, including the five courses associated with Big Cedar Lodge, as well as Branson Hills, Thousand Hills, Holiday Hills Golf Club, Ledgestone Country Club and The Pointe. Combined, golfers can find 167 of the most challenging and scenic holes in the Midwest (Top of the Rock is a 9-hole course, Mountain Top has 13 holes and Payne's Valley has 19 holes).
